Crown of Spines

Long, delicate spines rise like a crown above a Red Lionfish as it moves through the water. Its bold bands of cream and reddish brown create one of the ocean's most recognizable patterns, while the close perspective highlights the remarkable structure of its fins. Photographed at the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi.
