End of the Line in Carrizozo
A preserved green caboose rests on a short section of track in Carrizozo, New Mexico, its cupola, exterior platforms, steel wheels, and bright railroad markings recalling an earlier era of American rail travel. Beside it, an interpretive sign titled “End of the Line for the End of a Train” helps tell the story of the caboose and its place in the community, transforming a piece of railroad equipment into a local landmark.
